Mental Health Day

Annette and I are refraining from posting a giveaway today. We need a break. I am so busy planning my son’s second birthday party and my wedding (both this month). I just need a breather. And I’m sure we’re both suffering from some bloggy burnout with all the posts lately. Be bake tomorrow with more giveaways.

Welcome, Summer Blog Tour 2010 Readers!

Layout 1

Hi, today I am the featured blogger on the Summer Blog Tour 2010 which is being hosted by Living my MoMent and The Work at Home Woman. You can visit this post to see all of the upcoming bloggers which will be featured as well as the ones you’ve already missed.

Anywho…I guess you probably want to know a little about who I am and why this blog exists right about now, huh? Well, I am Chelsea. I am 21 years old. I live in Louisiana with my son, Leland, who will be turning two in August and my fiance, Ben. Ben is about to start his last semester of college where he is obtaining his Bachelor’s in Psychology. I plan on starting college next semester and I plan on majoring in Public Relations with a minor in Music. I want to be PR for musicians…that’s my dream.

As for the blog, I like to voice my opinions, have my little two cents out there in the world. If people read it, great. If not, oh well…at least I got it out there. This blog focuses mostly on product reviews and giveaways. I plan on adding more information about saving and making money soon, but at the moment I just don’t feel like I should be the go-to girl on the subject.

I have two other blogs as well. I have Music. Movies. Mayhem. This one is my passion. It is a blog for entertainment and electronics reviews and giveaways. I also host two memes there Karaoke Saturdays and Worth a Listen (on Tuesdays). Wait…Tuesday. That’s today! You should totally click the link and leave me a comment and participate. I’m just sayin’…

My other blog is pretty inactive. I plan on doing more with it in September. It’s called The Fashion Rehab and I run that one with one of my co-workers, Sultonah. Basically, we wanted to start a site for all of our fashion addictions and try and help readers find celebrity looks at a fraction of the cost. Suffice it to say, we haven’t posted very much, but I’ll fix that later on this year. Right now, my other two blogs are a bit more important.

For all of you who are here because you read that I have giveaways, um yes…I have a Spoil Your Family Summer Giveaway Event going on right now along with Annette from Annette Funnyjello (formerly Fairy Blog Mother). All of my giveaways are currently listed on my sidebar and include giveaways from the following companies: iFrogz, Slacker Radio, Affinitas Intimates, Berry Perry, Anne Taintor Inc., Novica, Tupperware, VTech, Little Tikes, Carolina Pad, Babyjo Bamboo Wear and Sunglass Warehouse. More will be added everyday until August 31st.

I think that about covers everything. Thanks for reading!

Happy Fourth of July!

I just wanted to take a minute to tell everyone to have a happy and safe Fourth of July. Today, I will be spending time with my baby boy. Ben is sadly in New York, so I’ll have to wait until Tuesday night to spend time with him. I will also be cleaning our home today…maybe I can eventually get some pictures up of the new place. But most importantly, I will be pigging out on the food my mom barbecued for us.

Isn’t that gorgeous? Not only did she cook all of that but she also barbecued pork and ribs, as well as bake bread. Thanks Mommy! I think I need to attempt baking her a cake.

What are your plans for today?

Sunday Stealing

Sunday Stealing: Another Question Meme

1. It’s 2AM and you are not home. You are more than likely:

Dead in a ditch somewhere?

2. What’s the last thing you spent more than $100 on?

Our new townhouse and furniture for it

3. What do your bank checks look like?

They’re Wizard of Oz checks and I can’t find a picture of them online.

4. Where did the shirt you are currently wearing come from?

5. Name something that will be on your Christmas wish list:

an iMac

6. What color is your toothbrush?

Orange and clear

7. Name something you collect and tell us about it.

Uhm…review items?

8. Last restaurant you ate at. Who were you with? How was it?

I think it was Carraba’s with my mom and it was good food but I wasn’t feeling well.

9. Who was the last person you bought a birthday card for?

Ben? I don’t really do birthday cards. I usually get one for him cause it’s easy to find one that plays a song I know he likes or has Simpsons on it…or has kittens on it. He’s realllly easy to shop for.

10. What is your worst bad habit?

Not sure, I have too many.

11. Name a magazine you subscribe to?

12. Your favorite pizza toppings?

Ham and Pineapple or BBQ Chicken

13. Whose number were you looking up the last time you used a phone book?

My landlord, I think. But I don’t actually use a phone book, I use Google.

14. Other than family, who is the person that you love most?

My best friend, Brittany!

15. What is the last thing you cooked?

Define “cook”. I fixed ramen noodles with chicken a la king yesterday.

16. Name something you wouldn’t want to buy used?

17. Which shoe do you put on first?

I think the left. I never really paid attention. I think it may just be whichever one I find first.

18. What is the last thing you remember losing?

I lose my keys on a daily basis, pretty much.

19. What is the ugliest piece of furniture in your house?

I’m pretty content with all of the furniture in my house currently. We still need like a lounger chair or something in the living room, but other than that. I like it. I hate our small TVs but they’re not furniture.

20. Last thing you bought and ended up returning?

I need to return the mop and bucket Ben bought. I bought a Swiffer Sweeper 2-in-1 instead.

21. What perfume/cologne do you wear? If none, why?

I wear Burberry Brit and sometimes Lucky #6. I also really like Dulce and Gabana Light Blue and Angel.

22. Your favorite board game?

I like Scene It and Trivial Pursuit type games.

23. What was the last board game you played?

24. Where did your vehicle come from?

I don’t have one yet. :(

25. If a movie was made about your life what would the theme song be?

Ok, I was kind of thinking about this yesterday…but I was thinking of what my theme song would be if I had a Youtube series and it would be Stupid MF by Mindless Self Indulgence.

But if it were a movie about my life, that would be different…I think it would be Nineteen by Tegan and Sara

26. You’re sad, who can cheer you up easily?

Leland, hands down!

27. What was the color of the bridesmaid dresses of the last wedding you went to?

Pfft…Red, I think. I barely remember the wedding much less the dresses.

28. What house cleaning chore do you hate to do the most?

29. What is your favorite way to eat chicken?

Grilled and on a sandwich unless it’s from Ghetto Chicken, then fried, greasy and with TONS of honey mustard.

30. It is your birthday. You hope the cake is?

A Nightmare Before Christmas cookie cake (my birthday is like two weeks before Halloween).

A Review is Coming…

I just received news that I will be reviewing an item I have been wanting for Leland for a long while now, so expect a fun review on a CSN Stores item in the upcoming weeks. I can’t wait! Sorry, but I’m going to have to keep you all in suspense for right, as to what the review item is.

For those of you that don’t know, CSN Stores has 200+ unique online stores where you can buy just about everything from a bathroom vanity to an inflatable bouncer.

Disclosure: I was not compensated for this post. I will, however, be receiving a review item free of charge from CSN Stores.

Mama Makes Money is FINALLY on Facebook!

Today, I finally took the plunge and added Mama Makes Money to Facebook. It is now a Networked Blog and it also has a fan page. I would appreciate it if you would “follow” us and “like” us on Facebook as soon as you have a moment. These will be extra entry options in giveaways coming up in the near future, so you may as well get it out of the way now.

The links are also in the sidebar now. The Facebook icon in my sidebar is a link to the fan page (instead of my personal page, as it had been before) and the Networked Blog app has it’s own big ass widget to the right. Pardon my French.

Happy Mother’s Day!

Looking Forward to the Future

I’ve been quiet lately. I’ve been sick since Sunday with a stomach bug. No, I’m not pregnant. Yes, I kinda wish I were. All this time I’ve been sick all I can think of is the future and all the things I’m looking forward to.

I’m looking forward to more driving lessons soon. I feel like 4 more hours on the road will really get me to where I need to be. I am looking forward to getting my license and a car. I’m looking forward to the Summer when Ben and I will finally be able to take a vacation.

In July, I will be attending Bloggers on Bourbon (sponsored by Trisha from Momdot and Leah from Bookieboo). Ben will be with me and my grandmother will be with Leland that weekend. In August, we will all go up to New York to visit Ben’s hometown and he’s really looking forward to seeing his old friends. It will be so nice to have a just mommy and daddy trip and a family trip this Summer.

I’m also looking forward to long-term things like our wedding (whenever that may be). There was a time when I thought it was just around the corner. Now, who knows? We’re happy, so I don’t want to push the subject and make him uncomfortable.

I’m looking forward to moving out of the apartment we’re in now. Our lease runs out this summer but we may have to stay another 6 months or so since Ben graduates next semester and he still really hasn’t decided where he wants to go for grad school.

I’m really looking forward to Ben graduating and starting college myself this Fall. I can’t wait to find out what school Ben decides on for grad school. I’m looking forward to growing our family, so much that I want to start now…sooner than we should.

I love my family. I know Leland will be such a great big brother and I finally feel like I’m ready for a little girl. I’m just much too excited to see what becomes of us.

Not Your Typical Terrible Customer

For those of you who don’t know, I have a part-time job as a cashier at an electronics store. Well, yesterday I had my worst customer EVER. Mind you, I have worked retail for three years. This customer wasn’t your standard, run-of-the-mill crummy customer. This lady was “unique”. She didn’t piss me off by throwing her money on the counter instead of placing it in my hand. She didn’t annoy me by beating up my credit card keypad when it didn’t respond to her jabs at it. No, this lady simply disgusted me…and I honestly didn’t know how to appropriately react.

She was an older lady. She came up to my register looking for a gift card. My manager was standing behind me and began to direct her toward our Gift Card Center. The lady didn’t move and my manager told her we also have a couple of options at the register, as long as it wasn’t for a special occasion. She proceeded to tell us that it was for a birthday, she only needed a thirty dollar gift card. Just as my manager was walking towards the Gift Card Center to grab a card for this woman who wouldn’t leave the register to get it herself, the woman tells me, “I can’t walk over there. I had a poo accident in my pants.”

Now, at first I was floored. I didn’t know what to tell her and felt embarrassed for her more than anything…until she opened her mouth again. “I’m not supposed to drink milk and I did. Have you ever heard of that happening?” The only thing I could think to do was nod my head no, and smile as if I weren’t disgusted. I also had to not make it obvious that I was not breathing out of my nose any longer. Talk about a challenge!

The only thoughts going through my mind at this point are “Why are you even in the store at all, if all you needed was a thirty dollar gift card?” “Could you really not wait to make this purchase instead of getting home and getting yourself cleaned up?” and “Holy crap! She’s wearing white pants. If I see anything, I’m gonna die.”

Finally, the transaction was over after the longest payment method ever. It had to be a check, of course. That would be my luck. The cashier next to me hadn’t caught a word of it. My manager and I were stunned to say the least. The manager thought it was disgusting, but found humor in my reaction to the woman. She told half of the store about the incident. My stomach was in knots the rest of the day. I felt like I needed to puke or shower and I couldn’t decide which needed to be done first.  I just still can’t figure out why someone would continue to shop after something like that happens and why they would feel the need to share. Isn’t the whole point to try and escape without anyone figuring out what you’ve done? What would you have done if you were that customer, or as yourself at the age of 50 or 60?

I personally can’t say that I would stay in the store for a measly thirty dollar gift card. I’d go home get myself cleaned up and make the trip all over again…no matter how far it was and I definitely wouldn’t tell my cashier that I just pooped my pants.
